The given maps illustrate changes made to the town center between 1990 and the present day.
Overall, many changes have occurred, including the addition of new buildings and modifications to existing structures. Despite numerous buildings and blocks having been altered, the Park, the Town Hall, the Childcare center, and the Library have remained unchanged. Furthermore, some places and structures were expanded, contracted, or removed throughout these periods.
In 1990, there used to be a line of houses in the town center; however, these houses have been replaced by new apartment blocks. Opposite them, the Park, the Town Hall, and the Library have remained in the same position since 1990. Moreover, Smith Street has become a pedestrian-only street. On Oldfield Street and Green Street, two additional pedestrian crossings have been added for citizens.
In 1990, there were two banks in the town center, one in the top right corner and one next to the Town Hall. However, the bank located next to the Town Hall has been replaced by a Cafe. Initially, the Cafe was situated in a row of shops, such as a Butcher’s, Grocer’s, Newsagent’s, and Baker’s, but over time, all of these shops have been removed to make way for a Shopping Mall. To the right of the Shopping Mall is the Childcare center, which has remained stable during these changes.
