The 2 diagrams/maps show a town in Norbiton, in its current form and projected changes in the future.
Overall, it is clear that the current industrial area will be completely removed and replaced by a residential zone. Every factory will be replaced by houses, and the roads will be expanded to accommodate more homes and facilities, such as schools. Additionally, the farmland will lose some of its space to make way for a new road and housing.
Currently, the town consists of only farmland to the north of the river, and around 8 factories. There are three factories that surround the center of the town’s roundabout where the road extends to the east for the rest of the 5 factories. Additionally, the river blocks direct road access to the farmland which shows that the road infrastructure is very limited.
According to the proposal for future development, all factories will be replaced by housing and other facilities, such as a school, playground, shops, and a medical center. There won’t be any more factories there. At the north of the area, there is now a bridge going across the river, and unfortunately, the farmland will be reduced and moved aside to the north-east of the town, as a huge housing will be placed there. Additionally, The roads will be expanded so that there is more space for homes. The factories that once used to surround the roundabout are now replaced with shops and a medical center. Another road will extend from the roundabout to the northwest of it and add more homes. The road that was currently extending to the east will make room for 3 homes, a school, and a playground.
