The two maps illustrate how the area of Borrowmeade has changed between 1990 and the present day. Overall, the town has undergone significant development, with the addition of modern amenities, improved transport links, and more recreational facilities.
To the northwest, Fickledose Forest has been removed and replaced by a climbing centre. The area just north of the town centre, which was previously a playground and picnic site, has now become a formal recreation park. Meanwhile, the corner shop in the northeast has been turned into a large department store, showing a shift towards commercial growth.
In terms of infrastructure, Borrowmeade has seen a major improvement in transportation. Whereas in 1990 there was only a bus stop on the eastern side, there is now a combined bus and rail station. Moreover, the village road in the southern part of the map has been converted into a motorway. The civic centre that was situated nearby has been redeveloped into an indoor sports complex.
Other notable changes include the installation of a phone tower in the southeast to enhance communication. Additionally, Prichard’s farmhouse in the western area has been replaced with a modern cinema, reflecting the rise of entertainment facilities.
In conclusion, Borrowmeade has transformed from a relatively rural village into a more urbanised and modern town, with better services and infrastructure.
