The map below illustrates the changes that took place in the village of Shalton between 1910 and 2010.
Overall, the triangular layout of the village remained relatively unchanged, formed by London street, School street, and High street while the village experienced the substantial development. Notably, the area of trees and large house were replaced by residential buildings, together with the extension of houses along London road. In addition, school and post office were stable throughout the period.
According to the map, in the triangle, there was a large house, along by a lot of trees surrounded in the center in 1910. By 2010, the area witnessed a complete replacement with a new small road in the left side of London road, accompanied by new residential buildings .A grocer in the southwest and a baker in the northeast in 1910, which then were converted into a café and large house by 2010. Meanwhile, the small house in the middle remained unchanged during a 100-year period.
Outside the triangular area, the number of residential buildings below the High street doubled to four houses by 2010. Several new houses were constructed along London road after 100 years while the post office in the northern remained unchanged. Similarly, the school in the bottom of the School road remained unchanged while the large house in the top was demolished to give way to new bank. In the middle of the road, a butcher in 1910 was replaced by a large two-floor building with parking below and supermarket in the top by 2010.
