The maps illustrates how Shalton village changed over a decade from 1910 to 2010. Overall, the village witnessed significant modernization, particularly houses expansion and some new amenities.
In 1910, a large house was built among the trees in the village center. Being in close proximity to it, a grocer, an house and a baker were situated alongside the High Street. In 2010, however, the grocer was replaced by a cafe and other features of the center were removed to make way for various houses. Houses were also increased to the South of the High Street and to the North-East of the London Road.
Initially, there were a school, butcher, and a house to the left of the School Road in the West of Shalton village. While the school was remained the same, the butcher and the house were demolished to construct a parking lot and a bank in that order in 2010. In addition, a supermarket was established behind the parking lot.
A post office was built close to the intersection between the School Road and London Road in the North of the village in 1910. Simultaneously, a house appeared in the North East of the village. By 2010, the two buildings were still maintained.
