The maps illustrates the main modifications, which have taken place in the area after the construction of a hydroelectric power dam between the year 1980 and 2000.
Overall, it is seen that the area has become more industrialized and modernized since the hydroelectric power dam has been introduced. Moreover, it has become less green, as an artificial lake has taken up a lot of space.
As for the central part of the area, one of the most considerable changes is that a river has been artificially expanded into a big lake. This development has considerably reduced greenery in the area. It has replaced irritigated farmlands in the east and a forest with rare plants and animals in the west. In 2000, one of the lake’s purposes was fishing. At the south bank of it, between two mountains the hydroelectric dam has been built. That allowed installing electricity posts on the both sides of river bank in the south. Moreover, a new village has been built near the river.
If we look at the eastern part of the area, one noticable change is that a village has been knocked down. By 2000, a hotel had been costructed on that place. What’s more, in the north-western part, due to river expansion, the ancient structures has been demolished and forest has been cut down.
In terms of mountains, they have remained intact.
