The pictures illustrate some changes to the art gallery’s ground floor which has been developed for well-rounded facilities.
It is clear that the layout of the art gallery ground floor has sacrificed space for accessible facilities and family-friendly interactive services.
In 2015, the accessibility in the art gallery basement is limited due to only stairs to the upper floor and steps at the entrance shown on the first map, compared to an additional lift and a ramp for wheelchair access in the present day. This improvement highlights the caring approach towards elderly and disabled visitors. While there were 4 exhibition rooms taking up most of the floor space, the fourth exhibition room has been rebuilt into a smaller temporary exhibition sector and an interactive children’s area, making the art gallery a children-appropriate place.
In terms of shopping and dining, a row of vending machines and gallery shops have replaced the original cafe and shops and the office area, meeting versatile demands for both employees and visitors.
