The map illustrates the Town of Malvern, and the the development that ensued in it over a period of 200 years, from 1820 till 2020.
The bird’s-eye examination of the images highlight notable additions and alterations that occured in this area from 1820 to 1920, and subsequently, from 1920 to 2020. Numerous changes, especially in the urban and connectivity landscape.
In the year 1820, the town merely accommodated a river in the west, 100 homes in the northeast, a forest patch in the southeast and a farm in the middle. In 1920, Initial signs of development are visible, attributed to the construction of a bridge over the river, and the addition of 100 more homes, making a total of 200 homes. In the same time frame, a road also emerged, connecting the residential area to the river. Moreover, alteration in the farm and forest area are also evident.
By 2020, the farm and the forest area are completely eradicated, in order to accommodate the shops alongside the river, and two Schools in the southeast, respectively. The number of houses rose up to 500, and a road connecting them with the Schools can be observed as well. Lastly, a wetland for the birds in the southern part of the river can also be observed.
