The maps highlight the main changes which took place in Willington between 1780 and 2000. Overall, the area witnessed various transformations, most notably with more educational, sports, residential facilities.
In 1780, the area still had several natural features. The large winding road was situated on both sides of the river in the left of the map. In addition, there was four farm near the big road in the center of the town. To the northeast of the area, there were two villages, next to which lay 100 homes. In the bottom right corner, next to 100 homes, there was woods with many trees.
In 1860, the road was erected from the vacant place at the top of map. One further development is there were more vilages and the homes in the northeast of the town. Nevertheless, there were fewer the farm and the woods, the amount of trees reduced.
By 2000, there were some shops on the right of the big road. Moreover, the small road still standed from 1860 to 2000. Another notable change is that the 200 homes increased toward 500 homes and the farm was knocked down, a road next to 500 homes has been established. Additionally, what once was woods is now sevaral schools and sports field in the bottom right of map. Finally, the plot of land at the end of the big road on the left was replaced by a wetland for birds.
