The two maps compared the present layout of the Biology School in a certain university with its proposed future development.
Overall, the Biology School has shifted from a relatively green and simple educational area into a more modern and facility-oriented one. The key changes include several new academic and staff amenities will be added, while some green spaces and existing buildings will be removed or redeveloped.
At present, the Biology School consists of several educational and recreational facilities surrounded by green spaces. The northern section was dominated by a large area of trees, while the central library is situated in the middle of the area. To the right of the library is the drama centre, and the indoor sports hall is located in the north-east corner. In the southern area, the teaching building can be found on the left, whereas the cafe and lecture room are positioned near the centre-right. Meanwhile, the IT centre lies in the south-east corner, and another area of trees is located in the south-west corner. These facilities are linked together by a road running through the school.
In the future, the school is expected to become more modern with several new facilities and redeveloped areas. The trees in the northern area will be replaced by a lab and an office, while the drama centre is planned to be converted into a music centre. In addition, the teaching building will be expanded into two separate buildings, and the lecture room will be relocated next to the cafe. The IT centre is also set to be enlarged. Meanwhile, the trees in the south-west corner will make way for a staff car park, whereas the central library and indoor sports hall will remain unchanged. The road system will largely remain the same, continuing to connect different parts of the school.
