The diagrams give information about the transformation of a library’s design between 2001 and 2009
From an overall perspective, it can be obviously seen that there were a variety of changes during the given period of time. The majority of alterations was held at the western part with the addition of many genres of books.
In 2001 upon entering through the southern entrance of the library, visitors would be welcomed by the librarian’s desk, directly facing the entrance. Next to that position, there were stairs at the bottom-right-hand side corner, leading visitors to go upstairs. From there, people would see a reading area, with 8 tables located right at the center of the room where they have a sit and enjoy the chosen books. It was surrounded by four bookshelves setup along other walls of the library, including self-help,history and fiction books as well as newspapers and periodicals.
After 8 years, the southern part of the library remained unchanged since the entrance, librarian’s desk, stairs and the reading area were still at the place where they used to be. However, tables were rearranged into raws. The western bookshelf was reorganized not only to accommodate the relocation of history,self-help and fiction books but also make way for several new genres, namely kitchens, economies and law. The fiction bookshelf was then transformed into a children area and tables ,while newspaper and periodicals were replaced by films and DVDs. Another notable change was the installation of two computers near the stairs,
