The maps illustrate how the town of Georgetown has recently evolved between 2015 and the present day.
Overall, the town has been significantly redeveloped. The city center has remained the same and in the same location. However, the surrounding area has been reconstructed, with the industrial facilities having been removed and replaced by recreational and green spaces, making the town more environmental-friendly.
There used to be two factories to the west and to the south of the city center. Nowadays, both of them have been demolished and replaced with a city park and a recreation area respectively.
The old train station occupied most of the northern part of the town. Today, it has been converted into a museum. Additionally, the old cinema to the east has been replaced with a concert hall. Last but not least, the post office to the south-west has been repurposed into a pub, further contributing to the town’s transition from industry to leasure.
