In 2000, the north part of the city consist mainly of farmland, woodland, houses and a car factory. By 2016, the farmland had been redeveloped into housing complex, while old houses were replaced by a block of flats. In addition, the old disused car factory had been modernized into techno park.
Significant changes also occured center of Wetherby, where were house with gardens, some public facilities and shops. After 16 years the old square was planted by trees, open-air food market became modern supermarket and shops replaced by multi-storey car park.
