The two given maps illustrate the transformation that took place in a town named Wetherby over a period of 16 years from 2000 to 2016.
What is most striking when looking at that map is that the town witnessed substantial modifications, most noticeably with the appearance of the recreational and residential amenities, as well as the disappearance of conventional facilities.
Getting into details, in the northern part of the town, the site occupied by farmland underwent a significant change, giving rise to a housing complex. Plus, the houses which were located to the eastward were renovated into block of flats, accommodating the increasing number of residents, and the woodland area which was being sandwiched between two complex houses remained intact over 16 years. Additionally, the disused car factory was replaced by techno park at the top right corner.
It is noticeable that the multi-storey parking lot was built in a place that used to be a shop in 2000. In the center of the town, the open-air food market was renovated into a supermarket, and numerous trees were added in the square which was sited opposite the superstore. Furthermore, the house with gardens was converted into a hotel with a spa, serving the demand of tourists. Lastly, the cottages with gardens were completely removed to make room for a bigger office block, stretching across almost the entire southern part.
