The maps illustrate how the town changed from 1986 to present day.
Overall, over the period, the area witnessed some dramatic changes from a rural landscape to a more urban area. Although some changes were significant, some things remained the same.
Looking at the maps in more detail, in 1986, there were a few houses compared with the present town with a plenty of dwellings, which was constructed after demolising farmlands. Moreover, the shopping area nearby the post officed were converted into residental area while the post office still locates in its original space. The primary school opposite this area was expanded by constructing more buildings.
With regard to the centre of the town, a new square was established and surrounded by resident’s houses. In front of this, the placed that used to be gardening spaces with a large house was replaced by a street and a retirement home. In addition, the bridge has not experienced any changes and still pass through the river Stoke.
