The maps illustrate the changes which took place in the Stokeford village over a 80-year period between 1930 and 2010.
Overall, it is worth noting that the village of Stokeford experienced striking transformations with the most noticeable change being the replacement of farmland with extending residential areas.
In 1930, Stokeford was a small village with houses mainly located along the main road that runs through the center. Farmland dominated the areas to the north-east and south-west of the village. There were also local shops near the post office, and a primary school situated across from the post office. A large garden area was found in the center of the village, next to a large house.
By 2010, the most notable changes involved the transformation of farmland into residential areas. New streets were added, branching off the main road to accommodate the growing number of houses. The local shops disappeared, leaving only the post office. The primary school was expanded with additional buildings, and the central gardens were replaced by more housing and a retirement home.
