The map above shows the layout of a university sports courts in 1990 and now.
In 1990, sporting comprised of swimming and tennis. Swimming was regarded as an outdoor activity hence the pool was outside. There were only two fields marked for tennis. Within the layout, there was the inclusion of a huge park which took about a quarter of the total space allocated, and a fairly sized car park. In addition, there was also a cafe, reception and a small changing room.
Some major changes have been made to date on some features of the grounds. To begin with, the left side of the court has been revamped instead of lush greenery, trees and rows for motor vehicle parking, it now boasts of a basketball court and four tennis grounds. The other half comprises of the cafe, reception, indoor pool, changing rooms and a new fitness centre. Each of the respective areas has its own clearly marked boundary, although they all fall within one allocated space. Unlike the 1990’s, water sports are now carried out indoors as the swimming pool is now indoors. Opposite the pool, lying parallel to each other, is a longer changing room and fitness centre. Its important to note that both the cafe and reception are still located at the same spots as before and have remained the same size.
In conclusion, the new layout encourages quite a number of sporting activities. Spaces have been carefully panned out in a more health conscious manner, promoting a more active group of individuals.
