The two maps illustrate the differences in Pentland’s layout between 1980 and 2007.
Overall, the area underwent significant reconstruction with 1980’s Pentland small number of attractions and several empty lands being replaced by leisure facilities and residential buildings. Consequently, the new layout became much more urbanized and organized.
In year 1980s map, the sea was located in the North, an industrial area located closely on its West side, followed by vacant land in the South. Moreover, on the North-East side of the sea there is a vacant land subsequent by grassland in the South.
In the layout of 2007 the sea was replaced with yacht marina, on the East side of it a residential area is built on the previously vacant land consisting of numerous apartments and many stores next to them neighboring with an area of houses in the South. In addition, on the West side of the yacht marina there is a park and a swimming pool, and a multi-storey car park that took place instead of the industrial area. Lastly, a cinema was situated on the empty spot.
