Overall, in both years the percentage of people purchasing online reached its peak between the ages of 26-35 and 36-45, while former in favor of the first year, the latter one in favor of the second. Notably, after this rise, the trend exhibited a gradual decline with age.
Starting with 2007, the youngest age group, shopped online, accounted for almost 20%. Moreover, the figure depicted its peak of roughly 32% on 26-35 age bracket. This is followed by an unwavering decrease with age from 32% to 12%, a twofold drop, in older people.
In 2009, on the other hand, there was a similar pattern, with slightly high proportions. More than 24% of 15-25 year olds purchased online in 2009, that is 4 percentage points highest as opposed to the former year. The figure increased with age, the highest proportion was witnessed in the 36-45 age group, constituted more than a third of their purchases had done online. However, this was followed by the downward trend with aga alike the former year. 45-55, 56-65, and the oldest age groups showed a gradual decline of approximately 28%, 18% and 12% respectively.
