The line graph illustrates the percentage of renewable energy in overall energy consumption across six different countries over the period 1971-2011.
Overall, usage of renewable energy became popular among all countries, with the USA representing the most significant changes, while the UK maintained the lowest figure over the given period. Notably, despite large fluctuations in Finland and Denmark, their total levels remained broadly unchanged.
In 1971, in terms of energy consumption Finland and Denmark were the highest categories among other countries, accounting for 25% and 15 % respectively, then both experienced major fluctuations, with the former almost remaining stable, whille the latter grew by 18%. Despite these small changes, these two countries still maintained their leading position. The use of renewable energy in France witnessed a dramatic increase from 8 % to 15 % until 2001, however, it was then surpassed by the USA, where the number started with 3% and rose to 18 %, which was about 4 % higher than that of France in 2011.
In contrast, the other two countries experienced modest growth. Usage of total energy in Germany and the United Kingdom composed 5% and 1 %, being the least used renewable total energy at the beginning of the period, whereas by the end, the former increased to 14 %, the latter to about 5 %, ranking the lowest category among all countries.
