The line graph illustrates the utilization of sustainable energy as a share of total energy production of four various countries, over the period of 1971 and 2011.
Overall, Finland and Denmark showed the highest use of renewable energy throughout the period, while the United States had the lowest levels. Additionally, all countries experienced some fluctuations, but most showed gradual increase over the 40 years.
Focusing first on the Finland, we can purely see that at the beginning, the share of renewable energy there was only 25 precent, which was significantly higher than the shares of other countries. Moreover, the use of renewable energy hitting a free fall to around 17 precent in 1986, before undergoing an increase to approximately 23 precent in 2011. At the same time, Denmark showed a similar upward trend, rising from 15precent in 1971 to 18precent in 2011.
As for, the utilization of sustainable energy in the United States, it is proportion of renewable energy composed around 3 precent in 1971, and even if it is share fluctuated in the following four years, the proportion gradually climbed and reached about 18 precent by 2011. France and Germany had both the lower shares at the beginning, which were about 5 and 7 precent but then their shares went up dramatically to 14, 13 precents. At the same time, the share of sustainable energy in the United Kingdom saw a slight increase throughout period, from 0 precent to 7.
