Looking at the illustration, it is immediately evident that this is a man-made linear process that requires a combination of both human labor and machinery. Additionally, there are nine main stages involved in this process, beginning with the raising of sheep and culminating in the production of woollen items such as jackets or carpets, with one by-product being recycled.
In the first step, sheep are raised until they are mature enough to develop a thick layer of fur. After which, the wool is sheared from the animals. Following this, the fleece is cleaned in order to remove dirt and impurities. Then, the wet wool is dried by machine. Once this has been completed, the dried wool is carded using a wire instrument, which helps to straighten the fibres.
At the fifth stage, the wool is made into large tufts, where it is subsequently sent to storage in the sixth stage. Next, the discarded strings produced during carding are recycled, thereby continuing the process in a separate cycle. Having been stored, the wool tufts are ready to be spun into balls of yarn. The process ends when these yarn balls are used for knitting or manufactured into final products such as jackets or carpets, thereby completing the wool production process.
