The three maps illustrate the development of Laguna Beach from 1950 to 1990.
Overall, Laguna Beach transformed considerably from a natural and deserted place in 1950 to a more developed area to become a more tourist-friendly destination by 1990.
In the west of the area, the sand dunes present in 1950 were gradually reduced by 1970. However, in 1990, they were replaced with landscaped gardens. In addition, in the middle, the beach huts in 1950 were replaced by villas in 1970. Twenty years later, in 1990, the villas were transformed into a large hotel. Additionally, a pool was constructed near this area.
In the east of the region, the woodland and track leading to the beach that occupied the area in 1950 were completely removed to make space for a new road and a caravan park. By 1990, the car park was minimized to cram a surf school in the beach
