The diagram illustrates the transformation of Liverton docks from 1980 to the present day.
Overall, the area has undergone significant redevelopment, converting what was once an industrial zone into a dynamic space offering various recreational, educational, and residential facilities on both sides of the river.
In the past, the northern bank was home to two warehouses and an adjacent crane. On the southern bank, there was one warehouse and another crane. The river was primarily used by ships traveling towards the coast.
In contrast, the current layout shows that the northern bank now hosts a sailing club, an educational facility (repurposed from a warehouse), and a children’s play area. The southern bank has been redeveloped to feature a hotel, apartments (converted from a warehouse), and parking spaces, along with a riverfront promenade stretching along the bank. The river no longer accommodates ships; instead, a ship museum has been built on the eastern side near the northern bank. A bridge has been erected to connect both banks, with a strategically placed flood barrier on the western side.
