The maps show the changes that have taken place in Grange Park from 1920 to today.

Overall, the park has undergone substantial modernisation, with several of its original features being removed or replaced by more recreational facilities, most notably a children’s play area, a cafe and a large concert amphitheatre. In addition, the arrangement of the rose gardens and seating areas has been considerably changed.

In the western part of the park, the former musicians’ stage has been replaced by a large amphitheatre for concerts. Originally, there were two rose gardens, one to the north and the other to the south of the stage, with seating areas surrounding them. The northern rose garden has been retained, whereas the southern one has been removed. In the centre, the old fountain has been replaced by a new rose garden, which is now enclosed by seating on all four sides.

In the eastern part, the pond containing water plants and the rose garden in the north-eastern corner have both been replaced, with the former making way for a children’s play area and the latter being converted into a cafe. Meanwhile, a glasshouse opposite these facilities has been demolished and replaced by a new water feature in the south east. Although the park continues to have entrances from both Arnold Street and Eldon Street, an additional underground entrance has been introduced.
