The pie charts compare the proportion of energy generation in a particular country across two years: 1995 and 2005.
Overall, nearly all of the energy sources experienced an increase in their share with the exception of petro, which saw a marked decline. Notably, coal remained as the leading energy source in both years.
In 1995, 29,80% of the total energy was produced with the contribution of coal – making it the dominant generator – followed by gas, at 29.63%. Petro ranked third in this category, making up 29.27% of the whole, while the combination figure of nuclear and other sources accounted for more than a tenth, with the former constituting 6.40% and the latter 4.90%, respectively.
By 2005, significant changes had occured. The percentage of coal’s share rose to 30.93%, the highest figure recorded in the chart, while that of gas also increased to 30.31%. Nuclear and other sources followed a similar trend, growing to 10.10% and 9.10%, respectively. Meanwhile, petro became the exception with a notable fall of nearly 10%, contributing 19.55%.
