Overall, the energy from renewables increased significantly, while there was a fall in the energy generated from nuclear and coal. Additionally, the energy produced from gas and oil and other remained relatively stable.
At the beginning of the period, the percentage of energy produced from renewables was at 15% . There was a substantial rise to 26% at the end of the period. Similarly, the energy generated from gas and oil and other remained unchanged, at 30.1% and 4% respectively.
There was a decline in the proportion of energy produced from coal and nuclear. The percentage of generated from coal was at 28.4% in 2014. By 2018, this figure had decreased considerably to 18.1% in 2018. The percentage of energy harnessed from nuclear was at 22.5% in 2014 before declining slightly to 21.6% in 2018.
