Overall, it is clear that social security made up the largest percentage of expenditure, while Transport accounted for the least share. It is also worth mentioning that the difference between the largest and the smallest figures was significant.
Looking at the details, the amount of expenses on different needs varied widely in 2000. It was social security that required the largest amount of investment, with 100 billion AED. Other biggest areas in terms of the allocation of money were health, personal, social services and education, with around 90 billion AED combined. More than 20 billion AED were spent on each of those areas, namely defense, debt interest and other expenditures. UAE government spent between 13 and 17 billion on law and order, housing heritage and environment, and industry, agriculture and employment. Transport was the area required the least amount of money (9 billion).
