The pie charts illustrate the contribution of sectors to the economy of Turkey in 2000 and 2016.
Overall, agriculture held the highest contribution in 2000, whereas healthcare and education took the lead in 2016. Conversely, construction had the smallest share in both years.
In 2000, agriculture contributed the largest proportion at 24%, while the government’s share was exactly took half of it . Furthermore, the sectors of Leisure and hospitality, and also healthcare and education each counted for 17% of the economic contribution. However, finance, business, and other sectors constituted a mere 5%, significantly lower than trade, utilities and transportation which stood at 14%. Meanwhile manufacturing and construction provided 8% and 3% respectively.
Moving to 2016, healthcare and education’s contribution surged to the top with 17%, 8 percentages higher than government, which was also being the largest share of the country’s finance. Trade, utilities, and transportation held 16%, double the finance, business, and other sectors. Leisure and hospitality matched the agriculture at 14%. Lastly, construction remained the least significant sector at 10%, below manufacturing’s 16%.
