The two pie charts illustrate how adults in a country spent their time on various activities in 1958 and 2008.
Overall, it is clear that the majority of time was spent working and sleeping in both years. However, the amount of time spent sleeping declined, while time spent working increased. Other activities remained the least common way adults spent their time.
In 1958, adults spent about 33% of their time working and 32% sleeping, each taking up almost one-third of the day. Around 19% of time was used for going out with friends and family. Meanwhile, relaxing at home and travelling to work accounted for 8% and 6%, respectively. Only 2% of the time was dedicated to other activities.
By 2008, the percentage of time spent working had risen to 42%, showing a significant increase. In contrast, sleeping time dropped to 25%. Similarly, time spent going out with friends and family decreased sharply to just 6%. However, relaxing at home grew to 13%, travelling to work rose slightly to 8%, and time spent on other activities increased to 8% as well.
