The pie chart show how world population was apportioned in the years 1900 and 2000. Overall, Asia and Europe together accounted for the vast majority of the world population in both years. However, while the proportions for these two countries decreased over the period, Latin America, Africa and Middle East experienced a significant growth in its population.
Asia took up the largest proportion of global population in both years, which was at 60% of total in 1900 and fell to 54% in 2000. Europe had much lower population than Asia, the second highest percentage, and experienced a decrease to 14% in 2000, almost half of its initial.
On the other hand, the proportion for other areas of the world were less than 10%. Both the figure for Latin America and Africa increased by 5% and reached to *% and 10% respectively. Middle East comprised of 6% of the total population in 2000. The figure for Latin America remained the same, at 5% and around 3%. On the last note, the population of the world change significantly, increasing from 1600 billion in 1990 to 6000 billion in 2000.
