The two pie charts illustrate the proportions of energy consumption in five types of energy in the UK in the year 2000 and 2010.
Overall, coal and gas are the most energy use in both 2000 and 2010, while solar energy and other sources are the least energy consumed.
According to the charts, coal and gas were mostly consumed in 2000, accounting for 30% and 29.5%, respectively. There were some slight increases of the proportion of coal and gas use in 2010 which rose respectively to 31% and 30%. In 2000, the proportion of solar and other energy were responsible for 6.5% and 5%, respectively; however, the figures increased approximately 4% in 2010, occupying 10% and 9% respectively.
On the contrary, although the number of all four energies which were coal, gas, solar, and other energy went up over the two years, the proportion of petrol consumption obviously decreased. Petrol was responsible for 29% in 2000, whereas ten years afterwards, the percentage of petrol usage dropped to 20%
