The two pie charts illustrate how people aged 18 to 25 in Canada watched television in the years 2009 and 2019.
Overall, in 2009, most people used conventional television. However, in 2019, modern devices such as flat-screen TVs, tablets, and phones became more popular.
Some electronic devices saw a rise in popularity. Specifically, flat-screen TVs rose from 8% in 2009 to 27% in 2019, evolving into the most used. Mobile phone use also increased a lot, from 15% to 26%. Tablet use grew almost four times, from only 5% to 19%. These devices became much more popular during that decade.
Other devices became less common. Traditional TVs were the most preferred in 2009, because they comprised 34% however, their use dropped sharply to only 4% in 2019. Laptop use went down from 20% to 12%, and desktop use decreased from 18% to 12% as well. This shows that young people in Canada stopped using older devices and started to watch television on newer, portable ones.
