Overall, it is clear to see that the major reason causing flight delays was airline operations management. In addition, the number of airport security problems and military factors which resulted in delays are less than other factors. There are an upward trend in airlines operations and security problems and the opposite was true for the others.
In 2015, the number of flights delayed due to operations failures stood up for 40 percent of delays, compared to those because of security and military-related issues which stood up for almost 5 percent and one out of ten respectively. The second-most reason for flight delays was air traffic control which accounted for a quarter of cases, followed by bad weather which stood up for over one out of five. In 2016, airline operations managing issues was responsible for nearly half of flight delays. Hazard weather which accounted for almost a quarter became the second popular reason for delays.
From 2015 to 2016, The number of flights that were delayed due to failure in operations management had a significant increase from 40 percent to almost half of the cases. There is a remarkable rise in the myriad of delays because of airport security from 4% to over one out of 10.
