In 2005, commuting by car alone was overwhelmingly the most common choice, accounting for exactly half of the workforce. However, this figure fell sharply to 35% by 2015, indicating a significant shift away from solo driving. Similarly, the proportion of employees carpooling decreased moderately, from 25% to 20% over the ten-year period.
Conversely, there was a clear rise in the use of non-traditional commuting methods. The percentage of people working from home increased from 10% to 15%, making it the second most prevalent mode of transport in 2015. Cycling also experienced substantial growth, doubling from 5% to 10%. Meanwhile, bus usage remained stable at 15% in both years.
Despite these changes, walking persisted as the least popular method, accounting for only 5% of commuters in 2015.
