The charts illustrate the share of people in age different age barckets who were interested in listening to pop music in 2018 and 2021.
Overall, it is clear that teenagers (aged 15-18 years old) made up the majority of pop enthusiasts, while older people recorded the least share. Interestingly, over time those who are getting older grew to like such music type, whereas the proportion of such younger generation declined.
Looking at the details, twice as more people aged 56 and older liked to listen to pop in 2021 (at 7%) than in 2018 (at 3%). Those who are 35-55 and 26-34 years old as well saw an increase by 5 and 6% in their percentages after 3 years, the former rose from 11% to 16% and the latter 21% to 25%.
The remaining age groups showed the reverse. The figure for youngsters aging 15-18 witnessed a moderate decline by 6%, dropping from 37% to 31%, likewise, 7% less adults were interested in pop in 2021 compared to 2018, showing 21% as against 28%.
