The shown charts illustrate how much people in United Stated spend on food in three different years: 2000, 2010 and 2020.
Overall, it is clear that individuals tented to buy more snacks and sodas, that is the cathegory that reaches the highest percentages in all of the three years. Whereas dairy products rapresents the lowest spending area, with a 10% in the first year, followed by a slight increase of 1% in the following years.
Meat and fish has a high percentage of spending, reaching for every year the second place although it has faced a decrease from 2000 to 2010 (from 26% to 22%). Fruit and vegetables’ trade has expanded through years ( 17% in 2000, followed by 19% in 2010 and concluding with 20% in 2020).
Bread, cereals and rice follow a stable pattern, in fact their percentage decrease by 1 % every 10 years.
