Overall, people aged beetween 25 and 54 made up the largest proportion of visitors to ireland. In addition, leisure visits were far more common than business visits for both males and females.
According to the first charts, the highest percentages of visitor were in the 25 – 34 and 45 – 54 age groups, with the total number for 23% of total visits. People aged 35 – 44 represented at 19%, While those beetween 55 and 64 made up to 11% .The proportions for the 16- 24 and 66 years and over categories were equal at 9% each. Children aged 0 – 15 recorded the smallest percentage, at only 6%.
The second pie charts shows that male leisure visitors formed the largest group, representing at 43% of all visitors.Female leisure travellers slightly lower at 40%. In addition , business visits accounted for a much smaller share. Male business visitors made up to 13%, whereas female business visitors represented the lowest figure, at just 4%.
In conclusion, most visitors to ireland were adults aged beetween 25 and 54, and the majority travelled for leisure rather than business purposes.
