The pie charts illustrate the viewership percentages based on various types of TV shows in March, June and August, 2015.
Overall, sitcoms and sport programs grew in popularity, while dramas and makeover shows demonstrated lowered proportions over the period. Although dramas occupied the dominant position initially, sitcoms were leading in August. Interestingly, there were significant changes in TV audience preferences for talk shows and makeover shows in the middle of the period.
Focusing on increasing categories, sitcoms rapidly expanded their audience as their percentage was constantly growing from 23% to 28%, making this type of TV programs the most preferred in August. Meanwhile, the rate of sport shows was not stable as it dropped from 14% to 11% in June; however, it almost doubled to 20% two months later.
The reverse pattern can be seen for makeover shows whose proportion initially surged from 21% to 34%, but afterwards it dropped to 19%. The percentage of drama viewers experienced a consistent decline from 28% in March to 20% in August, having become equal to those of sport and makeover shows. Finally, talk shows lost a substantial amount of audience in June (7%) as opposed to March (14%). This figure, however, almost returned to its original value and reached 13% in August, the lowest result that month.
