Overall, it is clear that, Facebook showed the highest percentage throughout the period, despite showing a downward trend. In addition, other social media channels such as Twitter, Linkedln, Google+ and Pinterest witnessed an upward trajectory over the time.
In 2011, Facebook dominated the chart with 59% of users preferring it. Twitter was the second most popular platform at 21%, followed by LinkedIn at 10%. Google+ and Pinterest were the least preferred channels, each accounting for 5%.
In 2012, the proportion of Facebook users fell significantly to 49%. Meanwhile, Twitter experienced a small rise to 23%, and LinkedIn increased to 12%. Google+ doubled its share to 10%, whereas Pinterest grew slightly to 6%.
By 2013, Facebook’s figure had dropped further to 38%, though it still ranked first among all platforms. Twitter and LinkedIn continued to rise, reaching 25% and 15% respectively. Google+ also saw considerable growth, climbing to 14%, while Pinterest remained the least popular platform at 8%.
