Overall, volunteering in environmental and sport-related organizations became more popular. However, fewer volunteers are interested in art and education, while health care remained the least preferred.
In 2008, almost quarter of all volunteers chose to help the community in education, while 21% of volunteers were involved in environmental works. Volunteering in art-related organizations was the third most chosen type, making up 18%. Moreover, only 15% of all volunteers participated in sports related activities, while less than 10% volunteered in healthcare. Other organizations made up the remaining 15%.
By 2014, environmental organizations became the most popular destination for volunteers, reaching 29%, while the percentage of volunteers participating in educational programs reduced by 7%. In addition to that, arts became a less popular option as well. However, there was a noticeable increase in the number of sports volunteers, rising to 25% of all. Volunteering in healthcare was still relatively uncommon, while other organizations became even less popular, making up only 9%.
