The two pie charts provide information about the proportion of energy generation by five sources in France in 1995 and 2005.
In 1995, the three biggest energy suppliers were coal, gas, and petroleum, which collectively made up almost 90% of total production. The contributions of coal and gas were substantially higher after a decade, rising to greater than 30% each. Nevertheless, petroleum showed a notable decline, dropping to just under one-fifth in 2005.
The remaining suppliers, nuclear and other unmentioned sources, contributed the least in the early period, representing only around 6% and 5% of all production, respectively. However, their contributions nearly doubled in 2005, with nuclear improving to slightly more than a tenth and the others improving to almost 10%.
In summary, coal and gas constituted the largest portion of energy production in both years. Their dominance was even stronger by the end of the decade, while nuclear and other unmentioned sources also saw an increase.
