The electricity produced in Germany and France by all sources and renewables is illustrated by pie chart for the year of 2009.

Overall, both the countries had generated electricity from three main sources which are conventional thermal, nuclear and renewables. Additionally, Germany had produced more energy compared to France. Also, energy made by use of geothermal was almost null for both the countries.

To initiate, Germany made maximum energy from conventional thermal which is around 60% while around 1/4 of total were produced by nuclear resources. Similarly, around 17% of energy generated from renewables. In renewables, use of biomass to generate it was highest around 2/5 of total energy generation of renewables while contribution of hydroelectric was around 18% whereas contribution of solar was one third of hydroelectric. So, total output of electricity generation was around 560 billion kWh.

Conversely, a reverse trend was observed in France as energy produced from nuclear was highest at 76% while it was around 1/10 of total for conventional thermal. In addition, France used around 14% renewables for production. In that, maximum energy was produced from hydroelectric around 80% while it was around 10% and 8% for wind and biomass, respectively. Finally, France generated 510 billion kWh by using all the resources and renewables.
