The pie charts compare the proportions of water used for production of six food products and income received from their sales in 2004.
Overall, vegetables remained the dominant product in water usage, whereas fruits registered the highest share of income. Rice and dandelion each accounted for the smallest share of water consumption, while rice generated the lowest proportion of income.
In terms of leading categories, vegetables accounted for the highest proportion of water consumption, at 46% which was considerably higher compared to income from sales of the product, at 31%. The reverse was true for fruit, which was the leading product in terms of income at 40%, despite accounting for only 28% of water consumption.
Turning to the remaining categories, rice and dandelion each accounted for 3% of water consumption. However, the proportion of income of the former registered the lowest share, at just 1%, while the figure for the latter was 8%. Lime and cereal accounted for 8% and 12% of water consumption, respectively, and their shares of income were the same.
