The pie chart illustrate the allocation of the sales of different types of cars in Australia in April in 1994, 2004, and 2003
Overall, the sedan cars accounted for the majority of total sales throughout the period. With an exception of the sales in Sedan cars, an upward trend was seen in the sales of total, SUV, and other types of cars.
In terms of the sales of sedan cars, although this category took the lead over the period, this figure witnessed a downward trend, which was in contrast to the trend of total sales. In April 1994, over three-quarters of total cars’ sales belonged to the sales of Sedan cars, which was the highest sales in three years. Despite the growth in overall sales, the proportion of sedan cars’ sales slightly declined to 62%, before continuing to fall to over a half in 2013. At the same time, it is clear that the total sales of cars in Australia rose gradually, being 42,900 units initially and peaking at 85,000 units at the end.
As for remaining cars’ sales, the percentage of SUV cars’ sales initially made up 7% of total revenue while the sales of other types of cars was 19%. In the next ten years, the figure for sales of SUV cars increased to nearly a fifth of total sales after which it remained unchanged until the end of the period. The sales of other cars rose steadily over the period and reached 32% in 2013, which was second to the figure for Sedan cars.
