The plans illustrate how the layout of a college café has changed following its redesign.
Overall, while several key features, including the kitchen, main entrance and toilets, have remained unchanged, the café has undergone considerable modernization. The former staff dining rooms have been converted into food and drink facilities, and the premises have been expanded southwards to provide outdoor seating and a barbecue area.
Before the redesign, most of the café consisted of a large seating area with tables and chairs. In the north-western corner, there was a kitchen adjoining a serving area where all food and drinks were provided. Two staff dining rooms occupied the central part of the café. On the eastern side, there was a bin, while the toilets were located in the south-eastern corner.
Following the redesign, the kitchen has remained in its original position, although the former serving area is now used exclusively for hot meals. The two staff dining rooms have been replaced by a takeaway food section and a coffee bar, while a salad bar has been installed along the western wall. The original bin has also been replaced by recycling bins. Most notably, a new outdoor seating area has been created along the southern side of the café, together with a barbecue area, and it can be accessed directly from the main indoor seating area.
