The given maps outlines the development of the ground floor of a libraby between 2001 and 2009. Overall, it can be seen that the size of this floor remained unchanged. However, more shelves had been constructed, dividing the main bookshelf on the left-hand side of the library into more compartments, to meet growing demand and create more choices for readers.
In 2001, there were eight tables located in the centre of the ground floor. Most of the north and the west was bookshelves, used to display books in three themes including fiction, history, and self-help. However, at 2009, all the small tables had been converted into four long tables in the central area, and the bookshelf of fiction type, which situated in the northern area of this floor had been demolished to sitting area for guests. Moreover, the shelves running along the westhern side had been transformed into more places to accommodate books of other genres involving law, economics, kitchen, self-help, and fiction.
Besides that, in 2001, this ground floor also had a desk for librarian, stairs, and the area which used to display newspaper & periodicals on the right-hand side. In 2009, the librarian’s desk, and the stairs were still there, however, the shelf for newspaper & periodicals had been removed to give place to films & DVDs. There had been computers were to the north of librarian’s desk, and also erected an area for children between two tables places.
