The provided plans illustrate the layout of a school library 5 years ago and the same library now. Overall, the library has been modified and converted into a more private place for independent study. Notably, it has also been modernized by introducing new features or replacing old features with new ones to suit modern standards.
Five years ago, there were four studying tables, which encouraged group work, located in the middle of the library. Above and below these tables, two large bookshelves were placed. In the left-hand side corner of the library, there was the library’s office, and a desk for computers stood just above it. The library also featured three other rooms providing other facilities in the southeastern corner: a classroom, a meeting room, and a borrowing and returning desk.
With regard to the current design, two extra studying tables have been added, and all the tables have been privatized to support uninterrupted individual work. The bookshelf that once stood below these tables and the desk for computers have been replaced with desks for students’ laptops. The library office has been substituted with a new conference room. The classroom has been removed to make room for a new recording studio, and to enlarge and split the borrowing and returning desk.
