The given pie charts illustrate the proportion of students at an education center taking different courses in 1985 and this year.

Overall, all courses have witnessed a decrease in the percentages of participants, while the opposite is true for cookery, fitness and dance. In addition, the percentages of students who studied music appreciation and local history have experienced a shift toward IT, which has exceeded the proportion of students participating in modern languages to become the most favorite course.

In 1985, the percentage of students who studied modern languages was 24%, which was slightly higher than that of fitness and dance at 22%. The proportion of students taking part in art, cookery, and local history were roughly the same, which were 17%, 14% and 15% respectively. There were only 8% of students who chose to study music appreciation in 1985.

At present, the percentage of students choosing to study fitness and dance stays unchanged at 22%. The proportion of students studying cookery has witnessed a slight increase from 14% to 19%, while the figure for students participating in modern languages has significantly decreased from 24% to 17%. The data of students who choose to study art has experienced a slight decrease from 17% to 15%. The percentages of students enrolling in music appreciation and local history have shifted to IT, making it the most preferred subject with 27%.
