Regarding their genders, male doctors constituted 75% in 1986, whereas the figure for females was around 25%. While the number of male doctors declined from 75% to 60% in the next two decades, that of females showed an increase, rising from 25% to just under 40% during the period.
With regard to the place they were born, two-third of doctors were natives, whereas those from overseas accounted for more than 35% in the initial year.
